What type of person do you think you are? The glass half full? Or the glass half empty?
Either way…… Both optimists and pessimists are needed in the world! As George Bernard Shaw cleverly stated: “Both optimists and pessimists contribute to society. The optimist invents the airplane, and the pessimist the parachute.”
We should try to shift our thinking from a place of ‘lack of’ and train ourselves to think from a place of ‘abundance’. The glass half empty might not have water, but it has lots of air! Everyone’s perspective is valuable and worthy.
Unfortunately, society and culture have been especially demanding: “if we don’t look like that we are not beautiful”, “if we don’t achieve that we are not successful”, “if we don’t do that we are outcasts”, “if we don’t agree with that we are rebellious”, etc.
Our come back with a mindset of ‘abundance’ could be: “I AM darn beautiful in my own wonderfully exotic way; I AM successful under my own definition of success and not yours; I AM part of my community despite choosing my own original and unique ways; I AM respectful to my own code of moral ethics, my Constitution, and my conscience”, etc.
We are wonderful and complete!
Then, what type of person do you think you are? The type that creates from the glass half full? Or the glass half empty?
Either way, every type brings its unique wisdom to the table. When we listen with respect and an open mind, we are more likely to unveil the outpouring of creative wisdom and beauty around us.
Thanks to all the beautiful glasses for your contributions! Let’s continue wearing our stilettos with grace!
